Stonewall FC Teams
Stonewall FC has 2 competitive teams playing at different
levels and 1 recreational 3rd team.
Here is a little information on each team.
1st Team - The London Lions
In the season 2001-2002 the first
team won the West Middlsex County League Senior Division.
They did it in convincing fashion, losing only 2 games
all season. This was their second championship in a row
after winning the Islington Midweek League the year before.
In 2002-2003 season the1st team were promoted to the Premier
Division in the West Middlesex County League. The 1st
team finished the season in 6th place - un-defeated in
their last 9 games of the season. They also got to the
final of the league cup - losing 3-1 after extra time.
In season 2003-2004 the first team won the Middlesex League
Open Cup in a 2-0 win.
We now continue in the Middlesex
County League, playing fixtures every Saturday
The First team won gold at the Gay Games in Sydney &
Chicago.
2nd Team - The London Apprentices
The Reserve team won their first league
title in 2002-2003, after following the first team tinto
the Middlesex County League playing in Division 3. They
performed brilliantly and lost just once all season - congratualtions
to all the boys.
The second team took Silver at
the Gay Games in Sydney and Gold in Division 2 at the
Eurogames 2008.
Recently the reserve team have
moved to the 'AFA West End Sunday League' due to demand
for Sunday football. They have had an semi final cup run
and placed mid table in their first season in this new
league.
Stonewall 3rds
In 2006 Stonewall created our Sunday
3rd team that plays in the London Unity League against
other gay/bi clubs in London. The emphahsis for the 3rd
team is for players at all levels to get together and
play with a less competitive feel about the match preparation,
etc. This being said all the teams still get quite competitive
during the match, but with drinks and food after the games,
there is a time to socialise with other gay/bi football
clubs.
